Anti Spam Technology

Junk and Unsolicited Commercial Email ("spam") can cause problems for Internet users by clogging up mail boxes and possibly exposing you to inappropriate content.

Well over 80% of the mail sent to our network is from known spammers and, with hundreds of users, an effective solution is obviously needed.  To give you an idea of the scale of the problem we deal with on your behalf, our mail server (in the period 10th May 2007 - 11th May 2007) refused 304296 spam messages.

Our network provides several layers of protection for your account:

  1. We use blacklists of known spamming domains to deny them the ability to connect to our mail server.
  2. We verify that the sending email and domain exists on the sending server and reject messages if the email address is faked.
  3. Repeated attempts to send multiple emails to our server ensure that the sending server is blocked forever.
  4. We score all incoming messages and highlight suspicious ones with the word "SPAM" in the subject line - you can then take appropriate action.
  5. We update our anti-spam signatures several times a day to keep up with the latest threats.
